Description | The MS 633 held at the Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kómik still lies quite unknown to scholars. This article reviews the contents of the codex (Italian vernacular versions of Cicero and Aristotle, and a rhetorical compilation) and attempts to establish the textual position of each work in its own tradition , or at least to provide useful clues to that purpose. Some methodologic problems concerning the so called ‘textual criticism of structures' are touched upon, both with regard to series of works occurring in identical or almost identical sequences in other manuscript miscellanies too, and to the differences between central and peripheral areas of textual transmission. |
