Description | In the paper, the author revises Joel Relihan's statement that the Martianus's work De nuptiis Philologiae et Mercurii is a part of Menippean satire genre. By means of analysing both the vers use and the typical situations (topoi), she excludes the text from the group of Menippean satires. The inspiration by the Menippean genre is undeniable, however, the reason for using it is didactic. |
