Description | An individual with deformed thoracic part of the vertebral column found at the Slavonic cemetery localized near Pohansko u Břeclavi (Czech Republic). At the Slavonic site Pohansko near Břeclav, specifically in the grave No. 403 localized at the cemetery around the church, there were found skeletal remains of an adult male with pathological changes persisting in the temporal bone and in the spine. A differential diagnosis showed that pathological changes near the meatus acusticus externus were probably caused by the mastoiditis, however, also a cholesteatoma cannot be excluded. The deformation of the spine was probably caused by spondylitis tuberculosa, or by a trauma. Due to poor preservation, also a developmental defect of the spine (hemivertebra) could not be excluded. |
