Description The article focuses on methodological discussions about further development of historical science. Author shows that history and literary criticism/scholarship were methodologically very close in 19th century. However, they got estranged from each other due to professionalization. Nowadays both disciplines methodologically co-act. As H. White proved, literary texts and historiographic texts were very close and in many aspects similar. But historian isn’t primarily trained to properly analyze printed texts (books, brochures etc.). His domain is interpretation of archive sources. So it emerges that literary criticism/scholarship methodology could be highly useful for a historian for the research of various texts, e. g. historiographic texts.
