Description The study is focused on relation between personality (Big Five model) and coping strategies. There were used NEO Five-factor Inventory by authors P.T.Costa and R.R.McCrae, which was translated and modified for Czech population by M.Hřebíčková and T.Urbánek (2001) and SVF 78 by authors W.Janke and G.Erdmann, which was translated and modified for Czech population by J.Švancara (2003). Results of this study show that neuroticism is connected with negative strategies. We found out that extraversion is related to positive strategies, primarily strategy of distraction and control. Conscientiousness is closely involved with need of social support and agreeableness correlated with some positive strategies, particularly strategies of control.
