Description | The common explanation that “moravismus” means a Moravian means of expression is very general, and therefore inadequate. Members of this group are elements beyond the borders of the codification as well as standard doublets. Only a minimum of them have the whole-Moravian scope, mostly they are characteristic of a smaller region, especially in the east of Moravia. They are usually rooted in regional dialects and in private communication they occur even today, although the position of dialects is getting weaker. However, Moravia speakers spontaneously prefer Standard Czech in public, although it may bear traces of language of the particular region. The other part of the contribution is focused on independent Moravian language, which is a topic very popular with the media. |
