Description The paper focuses on practical experience in the sphere of computer-based testing, in particular: 1) Devising and developing special computer-based tests by means of multimedia, and 2) Computer-based assessment of student language competence both in listening comprehension and in English speaking and presenting. The student topic-based presentations were video-recorded, edited, uploaded and assessed both by the teacher and the students in the IS.MUNI electronic system. At the same time, the author analyses the pluses and minuses of the use of multimedia elements in the English language testing at the Masaryk University Faculty of Education Language Centre. The newly developed and oriented on the student field of study computer-based tests, especially the audio and video recordings of the university student topic based-presentations, aim to contribute to positive results in achieving better student listening and speaking/presentation skills as well as the student language competence and their future employment prospects.
