Description The Faculty of Medicine of Masaryk University in Brno has long-lasting cooperation with the Brno University of Technology. It includes cooperation in research programmes, education of undergraduate students of Biomedical Techniques and Bioinformatics and postgraduate studies as well. Creative approach of technically educated postgraduate students to medical tasks can contribute to a new original resolution of particular problems. At present, a new potential diagnostic method for the evaluation of a dynamic compliance of finger arteries is developed in a postgraduate programme. The method is based on the principle of vibration plethysmography published by Prof. Penaz in 1997. The most original results of the research lead to applicable results as a utility model entitled “Equipment for analysis of spatially varying objects” that can in an elegant way follow multidimensional changes of systems captured by video methods (e.g. ultrasound). Furthermore, these results can be a source for the further development of a methodology applicable in different branches of engineering, medicine or science.
