Citation
Description The study deals with multi-faced artist Viktor Oppenheimer (1877-1942), whose activity in the field of art criticism and journalism and his organizational skills substantially contributed to creating a favorable artistic, cultural and social climate in interwar German Brno. Between 1930 and 1938 he had a major share in preparing eight grand retrospective exhibitions in Moravian Art Union (Mährischer Kunstverein). During the preparation of several exhibitions of art from Far East he could apply his extensive knowledge, gained by many years of concentrated study, especially in relation to building his own collection of Japanese art, and could drawn on the close personal contacts with Moravian and Czechs collectors of art from Far East (e. g. Vojtěch Chytil, or Fritz Löw-Beer).
