Description | Myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury is linked with production of oxygen free radicals. We evaluated the production of hydroxyl radical in isolated guinea pig hearts during ischemia and reperfusion. To investigate the other parameters of myocardial injury, we measured the creatine kinase, lactate dehydrogenase and lactate in collected effluents during both ischemia and reperfusion periods. The increased levels of CK, LDH and lactate and the comparison of these parameters with production of hydroxyl radicals shows that the hydroxyl radicals generation play important role in ischemia-reperfusion injury. |
