| Description | The paper is devoted to a process of internalization of the religious practices in the Post-Tridentine period. It shows that this came about through a usage of special techniques of imagination and meditation, which insisted on emphasizing emotions and encouraging imagination of believers at that time. On the example of the Purgatory doctrine one can see, that the images (i. e. both pictures and the inner images) played an important role in the efforts at intensification of a religious experience. |
