Description	The date of accession of the Czech Republic to the EU was also the effective date of Act No. 40/2004 Coll., on public procurement, which transposed the relevant EC/EU directives to the Czech laws. These included particularly Directives 92/50/EEC, 93/36/EEC, 93/38/EEC, 97/52/EC, 98/4/EC and 2001/78/EC. However, new directives for sectoral and public contracts – Directives 2004/17/EC and 2004/18/EC – were issued in the meantime. These directives were to be transposed by the individual Member States to their national laws not later than by 31 January 2006.The Czech Republic then adopted the relevant legislation, i.e. new Act No. 137/2006 Coll., with effect as of 1 July 2006. Overall, the obligation imposed on the Czech Republic was fulfilled at a later date, but to the full extent.
