Description | The article provides a theoretical basis for extending the study of humour into mass media domains. It overviews the research questions central to the history of humour studies and addresses the two paradigms around which the linguistics of humour has spun: on the one hand, structurally-oriented approaches and, on the other, interactional and pragmatic ones. |
