Description | The presentation is one of the first linguistic analyses into the discourse of geocaching. It addresses the way the geocachers construct themselves as an online community of practice. The community is linguistically characterized by the use of, among other, creative patterns of word formation. The presentation also describes the structure of an online geocaching logbook entry and provides an analysis of cacheonyms, i.e. the motivation for the names chosen by their owners to name cache locations. |
