| Description | The chapter in "Chinese and Japanese Religions - collection of essays" describes the basic features of religious ideas and practices in early China that are often valid for later periods of Chinese history, too. Due to the nature of received written texts the chapter focuses on state cults, i. e. to the religious ideas and practices common in elite and official stratas of the Chinese society. |
