Citation
Description The aim of this chapter was to describe development of vocational choice in perid of adolescence and to identify the correlations between adolescents’ career plans and some specific aspects of contemplating their future occupation, intellectual abilities, self-esteem and identity. We confirmed the theoretical assumptions that identity styles are correlated with differences in vocational selection and various types of vocational indecision. A negative correlation between the diffuse style of identity and problems with decision-making implies that persons avoiding self-definition more likely postpone making their vocational choice and thus they do not perceive any problems in their decision-making process. A positive correlation between the strength of accepted commitment and problems with decision-making implies that a commitment made in relation to future career can prevent making a hasty decision.
