Description | The aim of the lecture is to sum up the recent knowledge on neuropsychological functioning in anwiety disorders. Anxiety disorders are common with the prevalence varying between 2% and 5% in population-based studies. During past decade, an increasing number of studies addressing neuropsychological functioning in anwiety disorders have been published. However, the majority of this research has focused on the less prevalent OCD, whereas less attention has been paid to the others anxiety disorders, such as panic disorder and social phobia. Research focusing on cognitive functioning in and verbal information. Also, reliable performance deficits have been obported normal executive functioning among persons affected by OCD. Only anwiety disorders, and available evidence presents a mixed pattern of results, such as episodic memory impairments for both visual and verbal information, significant executive dysfunction, deficits in psychomotor speed and verbal fluency. |
