More vending machines for drinks and packaged food, payment variability, and a new self-service corner. The Faculty of Arts MU has expanded and improved the vending machines in its buildings over the summer. "We have replaced selected older appliances with new, more efficient ones with at least 50% lower consumption. It is now possible to pay by card and cash in almost all machines," emphasised Ivo Jurtík, infrastructure development coordinator at the Faculty of Arts MU.
The machines prepare drinks from freshly ground coffee beans, newly used organic cups, or 25% chocolate and 100% milk. New hot drinks include salted caramel.
A mini kitchen with a prep counter is available on the ground floor of Building B2. "This self-service corner includes a smart Selfly Store fridge. It can be unlocked with a credit card, then select a product and close it. Thanks to chips on the goods, the fridge recognises what the customer has chosen and deducts this from their card. The display shows a QR code with the receipt; the process takes about five seconds," said Petr Čáslava, managing director of Foodex. He explained that the fridges are controlled by software that allows, among other things, a remote view of the current state of goods and sales history.

The mini-kitchen can be found opposite the entrance to Building B2.
Next to the fridge is a new coffee machine that makes coffee with fresh milk. "We will continuously replenish the milk and, of course, clean the coffee machine every day. We use coffee beans from the Spanish roastery El Criollo," Čáslava said, adding that only card payments can be made in the coffee machine. "In case of complaints or ideas for improvement, there are contacts to our company on the machines, and we are looking forward to the new semester," Čáslava added.
There are now 15 beverage and packaged food vending machines in the Faculty of Arts buildings, operated by Foodex, Delikomat and Coca-Cola. A free Lokni filtered water vending machine is available in the basement of Building C.

The modern premises were created by reconstructing rooms in the basement of Building J, which formerly housed the faculty cafeteria Krmítko, and offer doctoral students quality facilities for their dissertation research. The construction and furnishing of the new rooms was funded by the MUNI4PhD project.
