Trial access to the WoS AI tool: Research Assistant
From September 9th, 2024 until the end of the month, trial access to the Research Assistant tool of the Web of Science database will be available. The trial access has been set up thanks to the CzechElib consortium. Research Assistant can be accessed on the MU network or remotely.
If access via the button does not work for you, go to the WoS website as usual, and you will see the option to use the assistant on the bottom left.
Research Assistant Remote Access
There are three topics offered in the assistant's chat, which I recommend trying out to get used to the "tone" of the assistant's communication. Regarding topics that can be covered, the assistant is already familiar with what we're looking for and has been pre-prompted with much of the essential context. If we don't know what questions or requests to start with but want to try it out anyway, we don't have to worry too much about what to ask - it will lead us by asking for input.
- I recommend trying Find a journal using an already published article and its abstract! Feel free to do it in a language other than English. Does it work for you?
- In the Understand a Topic section, try one of the bubbles the tool offers you after you ask your first question and get your first answer. How useful are the visualizations, and how relevant are the answers?
- How useful are the visualizations in the Literature review? If you click on any of the nodes in the graph, the tool will perform another review of the topic you clicked on.
- If you know what you want to discuss with the tool, just Start a new chat!
In your opinion, is the tool helpful, or does it not make the work easier? We encourage FF staff and PhD students to share their impressions, opinions, and experiences in the post thread in the Teams group.
Thanks to the cooperation with CzechElib, you can look forward to testing another AI assistant for database searches at the beginning of next month.
