Let's give a smile into a mailbox together again this year

Dear colleagues,

Traditionally, at this time of year, the faculty management prepares a Christmas present for you. Last year we decided to fulfill the second possible meaning of the phrase "faculty's gift" and invited you to join the Smile into a Mailbox project. This project, which aims to support clients in homes for the elderly by sending encouraging cards, was initiated during the first wave of the coronavirus epidemic by students who were connected by the Mission of Hope association across the faculties of Masaryk University.

As part of an appeal to the faculty community last December, we collectively collected incredible 721 postcards that brought joy to seniors in 125 facilities. Encouraged by this success, we decided to participate again this year, and are once again offering you the opportunity to donate a Christmas smile into a mailbox.

How to do it?

1. Buy or make a Christmas card.
2. Write a card and/or draw a picture on it.
3. Leave the address field blank.
4. Bring the card to the special box at the Arna Nováka Campus Gatehouse by December 17.

The delivery of your cards to 13 Brno homes for the elderly will be organized by the faculty in cooperation with the Mission of Hope association. There is no limit to the number of cards per person.

The Faculty of Arts is one of the founding faculties of our university and since its beginnings, it has represented what is human. That is why we are turning to you, the students and staff of our faculty, the founders of this project, and we hope that you will help us, in the words of T. G. Masaryk, "to realize our ideas through honest efforts"!
