The purpose of the project is to create and publish a detailed monograph devoted to Hispanoamerican fantastic short story, which will be published in the HOST publishing house of Brno. The book will make available to both scholarly and lay readers one of the most important genres of the Hispanoamerican literature, from the historical and theoretical point of view, and through translations of selected texts. The importance of the topic is based on several facts: 1. Hispanoamerican literature experiences concentrated scholarly interest in all developed countries of the world, especially in the way they perceive cultural pluralism. It underwent rapid development and it even became source of inspiration for European literatures in the 20th century. 2. Hispanoamerican fantastic short story can, from the historical point of view, be understood as the expression of the above-mentioned phenomenon of cultural pluralism, from the theoretical point of view it can be perceived as one of the main genres questioning in the most substantial way the concept of reality and as such it is very topical, with regard to virtual reality and the discoveries in quantic physics. 3. Hispanoamerican fantastic short story as a whole represents an unquestioned literary value and comprises masterpieces to be brought to the Czech reader. The publication will thus enlarge and enrich Czech literary horizons.
