The main aim of the project is to study cortico-subcortical interactions via advanced analysis of electrophysiological phenomena from microrecording to the whole brain levels. These interactions are basis for the understanding of the brain’s functioning, particularly in its pathological alterations; To investigate brain electrical activity in diseases involving both cortical and subcortical structures, i.e. with primarily subcortical pathology (Parkinson’s Disease) and primarily cortical pathology (Epilepsy). To identify electrophysiological phenomena related to DBS therapy with the main focus on possible predictive biomarkers. To follow up our pilot data defining optimal and suboptimal response to DBS in a long-term neuropsychological observation.
