Description Deaf primary school pupils belong to the group of children with special educational needs but they are also members of linguistic and cultural minority. Deaf children can officially choose the language of education, however the access to information about their culture, history and their very own language depends on the benevolence of their teacher. With regard to the European education policy, according to which culture and cultural diversity are one of its cornerstones, a question rises: How is cultural wealth transferred to deaf pupils? And have they access to Deaf culture as well? This paper presents some of the outcomes of research focused on the accessibility of cultural institutions for deaf pupils, which took place in 116 museums, galleries, theatres and libraries in the Czech republic.
