Description The chapter provides readers with the historical and philosophical analysis of the science and of the process of establishing pedagogy as a science. This explain why pedagogy tend to make sharp split between its theory and practice. The chapter identifies also proneness to an either/or thinking that is base for the mentioned split. Explaining this, the chapter also clarifies that there is two paradigms of science and supports with evidence fact that if we cross the early modern time of thinking we can and should understand a core of science in a different way. This makes room for different definition of pedagogy and educational research.
