Description | This paper, which is drawn from my PhD research project, deals with functions of Radioujournal, as an official institution and medium, in forming conditions and structure of the reception of Leoš Janáček’s music in a period between the beginning of regular broadcasting of Radiojournal and Janáček’s death (1928). Particular attention is paid to the specifics of presentation, interpretation and propagation of Janáček’s music in comparison with music by Josef Bohuslav Foerster, Vítězslav Novák and Josef Suk, who were around year 1920 still generally regarded as the greatest living Czech composers. Also I will focus on an issue of Radiojournal’s participation in the creation of a phenomenon described already by temporary observers (just in the context of Radioujournal!) as "Janáčkian cult". |
