Description This paper aims to examine a literary text through the prism of translatology and stylistics. The relation between literary science and stylistics is inevitable in the translation of fiction. The problem of translating dialect elements has been faced in the theory of translation many times, however, in practice every translator posses his freedom to choose his method and justify it. For the analysis of this phenomenon I have chosen the Bulgarian author J. Radichkov's short stories in comparison with its translations into Czech. The role of the literary dialect in Radichkov's works is different than the usual depiction of the local atmosphere, in his works the literary dialect itself becomes a literary peculiarity, therefore it is interesting to explore its transformation through the Czech translations.
