Keywords Leoš Janáček; The Beginning of a Romance
Description The aspects related to creative arts played an important part at several of Janáček's compositions. Different in their intensity, these inspirations may be found behind the operas Beginning of a Romance, Mr. Brouček's Excursions, Cunning Little Vixen, the cantata Our Father and the vocal-instrumentual Nursery Rhymes. The article focuses on the earliest example of the same name from 1885 by Jaroslav Věšín. Based on many sources, first the role of the picture in the contemporary context is explained as well as the question of its relationship to Gabriela Preissová's literary version and then the subject matter is followed on its way to composer.
