| Description | This article focuses on the nature serial composition techniques from the perspective of their problematized rationality and determination. It uses the conclusions from György Ligeti's analysis of Pierre Boulez’s composition Structures 1a. Various interpretations of the serial composer’s creative process are offered and placed in context with conclusions from the field of psychology, art theory and history, and music aesthetics. |
