Description | Passing Latin and Greek medical terminology as a Language for Specific Purposes can be a very difficult task for the 1st grade medical students who usually do not have any previous experience with the professional nomenclature or with Latin, in general. Especially in the multi-levelled groups of international students, teachers might find it hard to keep the full attention and focus of the students on the problematic grammatical concepts dealt with in the class. The paper presents the exercises in the form of various puzzles which were created out of the need to relieve the huge pressure sometimes put on the students and to make them learn in a spontaneous and subconscious way. Moreover, they support a friendly and non-stressful atmosphere in the class and good teacher-student relationships which are necessary to keep students motivated throughout the whole semester. All are based on open-ended tasks and interactive approach and are well applicable as a group work for students with various levels of knowledge. |
