Description In view of the importance of enzymes in a variety of fields, many efforts were done in the past to study their activity. Especially in drug development, the study of the metabolizing effect of enzymes on new chemical entities is a vital step that should be straightforward to perform in as little time as possible. Sometimes, the enzymes have a rather low stability, in which case a fast enzymatic test is needed. The focus of this work is on the elaboration of an immobilized microenzyme reactor (IMER) that allows an automated survey of the behavior of compounds in the presence of metabolic enzymes. Human flavin containing monooxygenase 3 (hFMO3) was chosen because this enzyme is intrinsically instable, and its immobilization on a solid surface might increase the enzymatic stability.
