Description The current Library Development Concept gives libraries an ambitious opportunity to become a community place for lifelong learning. Libraries organize many educational activities for diverse target groups - for pupils of all grades, mothers on mothers, adults in further education, seniors or socially disadvantaged users. Each of the target groups has specific educational needs. In order for the librarian to fulfill it, he should have the knowledge of pedagogy, but also psychology, andragogy, special and social pedagogy or pedagogical communication. The paper reflects research on the educational needs of teaching librarians and opens up a broader discussion on the subject of the competency profile of a learning librarian working with different target audience groups.
