Description | The paper, which was delivered at the Text and Theatre Colloquium on June 7th 2018, is concerned with the new methodological approaches to theatre translation. The paper's aim is to provide a brief overview of the development of the academic thought on theatre translation, as well as propose some new methodological concepts. Part of the new concepts are the 1) dychotomy of text- and scene-centered translations of dramatic texts, or 2) the role of the myth (of playwright, director, actor, or even translator) in theatre translation seen as product. Both of these concepts are applied to a group of Czech translations and adaptations of Th Beggar's Opera. |
