Description | The exhibition is a result of a collaborative project involving four Brno-based institutions: the Moravian Museum, Masaryk University, the Moravian Library, and the Brno branch of the Institute of Ethnology at the Czech Academy of Sciences. The exhibition presented the history, production, distribution, musical aspects, form and content of secular broadside ballads. The material was presented in the form of 14 main panels with texts, 8 display cases with three-dimensional items, 3 horizontal and 3 vertical installations. There were also 85 panels of various formats for the display cases, as well as 3 large printed textile hangings covering the windows. The exhibition displayed three-dimensional items from the collections of the Moravian Library, the Moravian Museum and the Institute of Ethnology, as well as loan items or scans from 21 institutions, private companies or individuals. The exhibition featured a touchscreen which represented a fun yet informative element for visitors. For children there was an exhibition worksheet and a special area where children could expand their knowledge of the topic in a playful and fun way. QR codes accompanied 11 of the three-dimensional items, enabling visitors to gain a more detailed insight into the stories behind the individual exhibits. For non-Czech speakers there was an English syllabus consisting of the main exhibition texts and photographs. |
