Description Reception and reflection of an artistic text by a child reader represents an important area, which is based not only on the acquisition of skills associated with oral reproduction of the read text and its understanding. The child's reader perceives the literary work comprehensively, and therefore it is necessary to take into account individual aspects in the process of perception as well as reflection and interpretation. Just like other works of art, literature also affects the emotional side of the recipient, who reveals the individual components of the literary text through his own experience. The article deals with one of the artistic research areas, namely the reception of child readers. Based on artistic research theoretical knowledge, it names the starting points for the creation and implementation of this research type. On the example of working with the literary artwork "Winnetou" by Karel May, which is a part of the research focused on identification of younger school age children with a literary work and theatrical performance, it shows the results of a questionnaire survey.
