Description | The main goal of the study was to examine the relationship between work engagement and selected psychological aspects – resilience, work-life balance and burnout syndrome. The research sample included 141 Slovak nurses from various hospital wards and outpatient clinics. Data collection was performed during the COVID-19 pandemic. A quantitative research design was chosen to meet the research goal. The administered questionnaire battery included: Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-17), Connor Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-25), Work-Life Balance Scale (WLB-6) and Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI). The results showed positive relationships between psychosomatic symptoms and emotional exhaustion, work engagement and resilience, as well as between work engagement and personal accomplishment. Negative relationships were found between work engagement and emotional exhaustion, work engagement and depersonalization, and between resilience and emotional exhaustion. The expected differences for the individual variables concerning whether the nurse worked on the acute ward, the regular ward or the outpatient clinic were not identified. |
