| Description | Museum educator is one of the relatively young museum professions, although it is a profession that is already officially established, recognized to a certain extent and fairly commonly embedded in museum practice. Over the years, the requirements for a museum educator as a specialized museum worker, his education, professional competences and demands for a spectrum of work activities have changed. In the same way, from a qualitative perspective on working with visitors in a general or individual perspective, we can observe shifts from activities corresponding to guided tours in exhibitions and expositions to real qualified educational work. The conference provided space for contributions and discussions on three main thematic areas: 1. Requirements for the profession. Competence, professional education and individual development of museum teachers. Museum educator–beginner versus museum educator–expert. Internships, practice, networking, mentoring, museum-pedagogical research. 2. Changes in the spectrum of professional activities of a museum educator over time. Reflection of development in general or through the lens of a specific museum. Creation and implementation of the museum's educational concept into practice. Involvement of the museum educator in the preparation of exhibitions and other museum activities. Local and international view of the issue. 3. New challenges of the museum educator profession. Participatory museum, reflection of socially current topics, new audience, extraordinary situation in education, pitfalls of the museum educator profession. Psychological dimensions of museum education. |
