Description The study deals with forms of reality narration in textbooks for German as a foreign language and with the role of narration in textbooks in general. The tendency of language textbooks committed to the communicative approach is discussed, to hide the narrative qualities in favor of evoking authenticity. A didactic arrangement is then outlined that could do justice to the complexity of the reality presentation, the mediality and other aspects.
