| Description | The paper examines the linguistic topics that pupils of the second level of primary and secondary schools can encounter in Czech language schoolbooks. Textbooks from the publishing houses Alter, Didaktis, Fraus, NNŠ, SPN and Taktik were compared. According to the current curriculum, pupils should understan the notions of the national language and language culture, the development of standard Czech and Czech orthography, and the position of Czech among Slavic and other European languages. The paper focuses mainly on what information beyond these basics is presented to pupils and its adequacy for the given age group is evaluated. Finally, some factual errors in the textbooks are pointed out. |
