Description This paper evaluates the position which the parents with handicaped children can occupy in Czech legislative environment compared with school. It had arised from the question what role has been attributed to the parents with handicaped children and how is this role defined exactly in the legislative and other educational documents in the Czech Republic. We operate with those parents roles which are designed in the Czech educational legislative regulations, tangibly. In those regulations where the role is not designed specifically and is possible to generalize it, we can differentiate three parents categories: parents as a problem, parnets as the clients and parents as partners. In the last mentioned category we can assess two kinds of partnership: the educational and social one. On the basis of results from the law analysis as well as from the generally binding legal regulations in branch of education, published according to the law and its limits (public notices, methodical instructions), there are given the changes in the role of parents with handicapped children in relation with the school, compared with the past. The current legislative state has been confronted with the conception intents which are included in the most important conception documents of the Czech Government and the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
