Description | The authors defined the notions in service teacher training and profesional development, and they present some results of the research Psychological aspects of in-service teacher training. They present some dates from the Czech milieu - which kind of educational events teachers prefer, and which can their paths of choice within the educational event be. The teachers choice seem to be very often random, offhand, and strongly influenced by the accessibility of the event, in terms of time, location, and costs, by colleagues references, and by the attractiveness of the subject matter. Subsequently they point out some possible discrepancies among the needs of the educational policy, of the school, and of teachers as individuals, potentially hampering the process of professional development. In the last years, the widening role of the teacher is often mentioned, presupposing the development of new competencies, such the abilities to collaborate with colleagues, take part in the schools and the teachers professional development, and so on. Though, many experienced teachers remain concentrated on the work in the classroom, relating their needs merely to this area. In spite of that, one of the essential preconditions of the success of an educational event is the respect to the individual needs of teachers, assuming the harmonization of individual needs with those of the school and of the society. |
