Description This study focuses on the relationship between youth slang and its use in mass-media, especially in advertisements. Comparing the collection of epilinguistic productions concerning two advertisements based on slang: one French youth slang from suburban areas, the second in Brno's slang called 'hantec' from the Czech Republic, this article presents a reflection on the circulation of slang terms, its popularisation as well as its stigmatization. The integration of a generational and/or social deviance into 'common slang' on the one hand and its disdain and the lack of understanding on the other hand are the two main results of the recent media boom in both countries.
