Description | Aim of the research was the analysis of demanding life situations in university students, which notably participated in usage of concrete coping strategies. We also investigated appraisal of these demanding life situations and the relation between appraisal of demanding life situation and subsequent selection of coping strategies. We investigated coping strategies derived from hierarchical model, which refers to R.S. Lazarus s approach to coping with stress. We analyzed data of 136 university students (53 males and 83 females). We found out gender differences in types of demanding life situations: women more often solved situations connected with interpersonal relations. Differences were detected also in appraisals of demanding life situations: women perceived these situations as less suggestible and uncaused. In addition, important differences between women and men subgroups were also between appraisal of demanding life situations and usage of coping strategies. |
