Description In our study we have focused on geographical names in Czech written work of Jindřich Hýzrle z Chodů, which originate from late humanist period. The analysis has shown that only minimum of toponyms for objects situated outside of Czech language territory occurs in the text in the same form as in the original language. The author more often uses exonyms, i.e. home forms of foreign geographical names. The exonyms in work of Hýzrle illustrate the first phase in evolution of Czech exononymy - they are influenced by spoken (pronounced) forms of foreign geographical names, their more or less mutilated forms show the spontaneity of borrowing, variance of forms give evidence for instability of names adapted to the Czech language. Phonological changes registered by geographical names, by adjectives derivate from them (prothetic v-, contraction é - í, diphthongization ý - ej) respectively, prove that work of Hýzrle belongs to the lower humanist style.
