Election of the Dean of FA MU for the 2022-2026 term of office

"The Dean is the highest representative of the Faculty of Arts and acts and makes decisions for MU in the affairs of the Faculty of Arts. He/she is responsible for his/her activities to the faculty's Academic Senate and the MU Rector. (...) The term of office of the dean is four years; the same person may serve as dean for a maximum of two consecutive terms. The dean is appointed by the MU Rector on the basis of a proposal of the FA AS. The FA AS decides on the proposal for the appointment of the dean in the manner prescribed by law and the Rules of Procedure of the FA AS. The proposal for the appointment of the FA Dean is submitted by the FA AS President to the MU Rector no later than one month before the end of the term of office of the current Dean."

  • 8 November 2021

    Announcement of the election date

    The official announcement of the dean's election and the opening of the collection of applications for candidacy will take place at the MU Faculty of Arts Academic Senate meeting on Monday 8 November 2021.

  • 9-30 November 2021

    Collection of nominations

    The collection of sealed applications for candidacy will take place between 9 and 30 November 2021 in the mailbox of the Student Chamber of the Academic Senate of the FF MU at the FF MU mailroom.

    The application for candidacy must include:

    • written consent of the candidate to the nomination
    • a declaration by the candidate that he/she meets the conditions set out in Section 2 of Act No. 451/1991 Coll., laying down certain other requirements for the performance of certain functions in state bodies and organizations of the Czechoslovak Republic, the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic, as amended (so-called lustration certificate)
    • program declaration
    • structured professional CV
    • preliminary list of vice-deans

    By submitting a nomination, the candidate agrees to the publication of the above documents and the data contained therein.

    Candidates' debates with the Academic Senate

    On the 10th December, closed debates of individual candidates with both chambers of the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Arts will take place.

  • 15 December 2021

    Candidates' debate with the academic community

    Pursuant to Article 20(5) of the Rules of Procedure of the AS FF MU, the candidates will present themselves to the FF MU academic community at a public meeting of the FF MU Academic Senate. This will take place on 15 December 2021 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and the candidates will present their program and introduce their prospective vice-deans. The MU Rector will also be invited to this meeting.

  • 10 January 2022

    The actual election

    The first and possible second round of the election will take place at the AS FF MU meeting on 10 January 2022 at 3:00 PM. Physically present in room B2.13 will be the candidate teams, senators, dean, and rector. Others will be able to participate online via MS Teams. The possible third round of the election will then take place one week later.

Overview of candidates

Markéta Kulhánková

Doc. Mgr. et Mgr. Markéta Kulhánková, Ph.D., works at the Department of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts, where she teaches mainly Byzantine and Neo-Greek literature. In addition to her scientific research in these areas, she also focuses on the artistic translation of both historical source texts from the Byzantine era and modern works inspired by this period. She has worked at a number of foreign universities, was a faculty senator at home for two terms, and is currently a member of the university senate.

She is running for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Arts MU with the VIZE22 program. The complete program statement including the list of vice-deans, the candidate's CV, and the list of supporters can be found in the documents below (in Czech only).

Irena Radová

Doc. Mgr. Irena Radová, Ph.D., is the head of the Department of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts, where she teaches mainly ancient Greek and Roman literature. However, many know her from her established faculty-wide lectures on ancient mythology, which she also deals with scientifically. She has had positions at several foreign universities and since 2004 has been the head of the Department of Classical Studies at the MU Faculty of Arts. For two terms, she was Vice-Dean for Admissions and Development of Study Programmes at the Faculty.
