On Monday, November 1, the grand opening of the new space of the Central Library of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University, took place. In the presence of representatives of the faculty management, preparations for the Makerspace were completed by cutting a ribbon. The symbolic act was carried out by Vice-Dean Petr Škyřík, without whose auspices the project could not have taken place.
Beginning this November, Makerspace is now open to all students and employees of Masaryk University. After initial training, they can use available technologies to develop their pedagogical and study skills. The new space in the library is for creative work, education, and personal development of the individual, as well as for collaborative work and inspiration for innovative solutions to various challenges and problems. One inspiring project has already been created in cooperation with the Department of Theater Studies.
A 3D printer, sewing machine, virtual reality set, plotter and button press are available in the Makerspace of the Central Library of the Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University. Those interested can immerse themselves in virtual reality, create a badge with an original design, or sew various creations. Materials for working with some technologies (filament for a 3D printer, blank badges, foil for a plotter) can be purchased at the Information Desk on the library's ground floor.

Anyone can see the newly created space and the technology in it every Tuesday from 13:00–15:00. At that time, a librarian will be present to show how to work with the technologies and answer any questions.
Students and staff who want to work independently in the room must first learn how to use the technology they will be using. After this training, they get access to the room, and after making a reservation in the Outlook calendar, they can use the technology freely. The training takes place on pre-arranged dates, and it is necessary to register for them. It is possible to arrange individual training for individuals or as part of a study lesson through the form.
