International Cooperation

Great emphasis is placed on international cooperation within the 11 modernized PhD programmes (English Linguistics, Literatures in English, Czech Literature, Czech Language, Germanic Languages, Germanic Literatures, General Linguistics, Romance Languages, Romance Literatures, Medieval Latin Language and Literature, and Narratology). The innovated curricula of the above listed programmes all incorporate academic internships at partner universities abroad (see the section For students), strengthening the students’ foreign language competence and their competitiveness in the international job market.

The most accomplished students of the innovated programmes receive a generous scholarship from the project budget to cover the international internship expenses; other students may apply for scholarships within the Erasmus or other partner universities programmes guaranteed by Masaryk University Centre for International Cooperation and International Relations Office, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University

International cooperation is supported by the project Nr. CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_018/0002693 “Intercultural dimension in PhD programmes in Philology” (Intercultural dimension).

For Students

Conditions for the Project’s international study stay scholarship

5 most accomplished students of the 11 innovated PhD programmes (as listed below) will receive a generous scholarship from the Operational Programme Research, Development and Education project “Intercultural dimension in PhD programmes in Philology” (CZ.02.2.69/0.0/0.0/16_018/0002693) for a study stay at one of the partner universities.

The applicant is required to meet the scholarship criteria. The scholarship recipients will be selected through a selection process (for further details see Partner Universities Information booklet).

The length of the stay is one semester (according to the host university schedule), with the maximum length being 6 months.

The innovated PhD programmes open for students in September 2019; the selected students receive the scholarship to study at the partner universities in the 2nd or 3rd semester of their studies.

Funding

The successful applicants sign an agreement pursuant to Section 1746 (2) of Act No. 89/2012 Coll., the Civil Code, as amended, or a participant’s contract. The agreement is prepared by the project manager, who also provides further information concerning funding and expense reporting.

The project scholarship is designed to cover all costs associated with studying abroad, namely:

  • transportation (based on the actual cost of the tickets);
  • monthly allowance to cover accommodation, meal expenses, and tuition fees.

The actual amount of the monthly allowance is determined by the host country and is calculated as the Erasmus+ monthly grant for the host country multiplied by the coefficient 1.5.

Documents required after returning from the stay:

  • a report by the student;
  • a report by the partner university (including grades and/or assessment by the teachers);
  • a confirmation of studies letter from the partner university;
  • a report by the PhD student’s supervisor.

Please contact the project manager (see the Contacts section) for further details regarding the administration of funding.
