HR Award – Find out what topics are related to gender equality in academia
The Nora Gender Information Centre offers on its YouTube channel a new series of short informative videos on this topic.
This has been happening more and more recently, but the use of English is now also stipulated by faculty guidelines. We have thus fulfilled the next step of the Action Plan.
One of the main goals of the HR Award project is to create a research environment at the faculty that is attractive to top foreign researchers, which cannot be done without making sure that these researchers are familiar with the faculty and that all relevant information reaches them in English. Bilingualism is thus increasingly permeating internal faculty communication: faculty regulations have been translated, the dean's office has been translating minutes of management and college meetings and mass e-mails for some time, and the faculty newsletter has also been published in two languages since this year. MU Faculty of Arts Instruction No. 2/2021 has now been issued, which also formally enshrines the use of English in relevant internal communication.
We have already fulfilled a significant part of point 16 of the Action Plan. It remains to complete the English versions of the websites of the dean's offices, which is planned to be completed by mid-2023.
Support in the form of language courses has been provided for the deanery staff, who are most affected by the expansion of communication into English, and licenses for the renowned DeepL translator and the English spelling and style checker Grammarly have also been purchased. Translations of larger texts, legal documents, and the website will be provided by an external translation agency. More on translation support can be found here.
