Popis | Tagging, i.e. attaching a label as a means of digital circulation, is under-theorized and under-discussed phenomena in terms of discourse theory. Importantly, the two main aspects of tagging are: 1) an item can have a large variety of often unconnected tags, and 2) a single tag connects the item with all other items that share the same tag, even though the items themselves are often only vaguely related. Focusing mainly on tagging of various stock photography but also venturing into other fields, the proposed presentation will discuss tagging in terms of Foucault's and de Certeau's understanding of discourse. The presentation will propose that tagging cannot be completely explained by the discourse theories presented by the two scholars, which in turn enhances our understanding of discursive formation as a whole. |
