Popis | The Dissident Networks Project (DISSINET, https://dissinet.cz/), hosted at Masaryk University, Faculty of Arts, Centre for the Digital Research of Religion, is a research project exploring dissident religious cultures in premodern Europe from the perspective of social network analysis and geographic information science. It uses computational methods to shed new light on the social microstructure and spatiality of premodern dissident Christianities, on inquisitorial trials and records and, by extension, on premodern social networks, the functioning of covert networks, and the emergence of religion from local interactions. This paper will discuss the project’s foundations and aims as well as the intricacies of the collection of data on complex social interactions in past societies. |
