Researchers' Night this year tested all the senses

A total of 1,403 higher education institutions from 95 countries were assessed in the second edition of the QS Sustainability Rankings, which evaluates the contribution of universities to tackling the challenges of sustainable development. Masaryk University is ranked first in the Czech Republic and 161st in the world.
The Czech Science Foundation (GACR) will support three JUNIOR STAR projects from January 2024. Grants were also awarded to three researchers from Masaryk University.
Shanghai Ranking, a leading ranking company, recently released an international comparison of higher education institutions by subject area. Masaryk University secured a spot in the world’s top 200 in two subjects, and it is currently the top-ranking institution in the Czech Republic in three subjects.
Vice-rector for Research and Doctoral Studies Šárka Pospíšilová presented awards for excellent achievements in doctoral programmes at MUNI to forty graduates and their supervisors and consultants.
The 8th edition of the university rowing competition also included a dragon boat race. Masaryk University won over Mendel University.
At the start of the current academic year, Jana Fialová became the vice-rector for student affairs and external relations. She had previously served as the vice-dean for student affairs at the Faculty of Medicine since 2018.
The refectory of the Old Brno Abbey at Mendlovo náměstí hosted a ceremony at which twenty-three associate professors from seven faculties received their appointment decrees.
